Proposal

Falling in love with Rebecca was easy. She’s amazing. Planning a worthy proposal of such an incredible girl, on the other hand, was not so easy.

Planning a trip to somewhere romantic like New York would have been a great option, but in my head, it would have played out something like: 40 minutes of "Why are we going to the airport?" followed by 9 awkward hours on a plane, a night of "why are we here?" to, finally, get to Central Park, hop aboard a horse drawn carriage, and pop the now blatently obvious question. So, I decided on the next most romantic venue I could think of… Becca´s office in Gosforth!

Planning has never really been my forte, but I was leaving nothing to chance on this one… I had pre-booked every little detail, I’d run every 'worst case' scenario through in my head, I even had back-up plans in case it rained or Becca didn't like the restaurant choice. So that was that, I was ready.

I sent a bouquet of flowers up to the 1st Floor with a note attached requesting Rebecca's presence at the side window. I stood in the car park of the 'romantic' workplace in Gosforth and waited nervously for the note to be read. As Rebecca appeared at the window, the look of confusion on her face soon changed to shock, as she peered down to see me, standing with a stack of printed boards, the first reading 'Hi Princess'. As I shuffled through the boards, showing some romantic snippets of our lives together, coupled with a few 'funnies' to lighten the moment, I finally arrived at a board asking that she meet me in the car park. Rebecca swiftly turned and disappeared from view, and I was left with an overwhelming feeling that I was being watched… possibly by, what seemed like, a sea of faces staring at me from the now 'Becca-less' window.

I dropped to one knee, and waited, and waited... it seemed like an eternity, all I could think was… 'I've knelt too eagerly, people are now just looking at me getting my knee dirty in a gravelly car park, awww no, they've opened the window, please don't say anything to me, I've got too much to think about right now, where is she, why am I still kneeling'. Finally reappearing within my gaze, I ushered my princess toward me.

I had planned in my head what I was about to say, but what came out of my mouth seemed entirely incoherent, and, to this day I couldn't tell you what was said, but whatever it was, was met with a quivering, approving nod, I leapt up, placed the ring onto her finger and wrapped my arms around my beautiful wife to be, to the sound of raucous cheers and clapping from the viewing gallery above. And the rest as they say 'is history'.

Wedding

September 13th, 2014 @ 12:00 PM | St. Edmund's Church

The picturesque village of Sedgefield dates back to Norman times and as such, the entirety of the town centre has been designated as a conservation area. The most striking feature of Sedgefield’s beautiful village green is St. Edmund’s Church, a 13th century building with an impressive 90ft tower which is visible from the edges of the village and beyond. In and around the church there are highlights such as the Lychgate and the impressive Elzabethan screen, made by the same craftsmen who worked on Durham Cathedral.

GIFTS

We’ve been together quite a while and own many pots and pans
so as we don't need homely gifts we have another plan!
We know its not traditional and not the way its usually done,
but rather than a wedding list, we'd love a bit of sun!
So if you'd like to give a gift and send us on our way,
a donation to our honeymoon would really make our day.
